You have to wonder if they are going to focus on a different group of survivors that fight their way out. Or, more likely, they will simply be a more action-oriented, modern version (with a more modern vessel) that flips over. The original was hokey, but it's a fascinating idea for a film. I remember hearing that they were going to focus on survivors that got out at the bow of the ship, rather than through the engine room, as the book indicated. In the book, there was another batch of survivors that got out through the bow. My own opinion is that they might as well start with those survivors, rather than give us the minister, the ex-hooker, the cop, the old lady swimmer, etc. "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." And as curious as i am on what the story is going to be if it will be the same or not !I am sad that hollywood has seemed to be rehashing old movies and redoing them not that this is not a good thing in some cases I just would like to see more original ideas !I look at several movies coming out this year and although i am excited to see many that are being redone I think that we have started to see a trend as of late that alot of these movies we done before ! Don't get me wrong I am looking forward to seeing Charlie and the Chocolate factory and I have even got interested in seeing the war of the worlds! I think if they keep the story of this the same it should not be made ! Now the issue becomes whether they can make anyone care about these characters. Since the tsunami in 2005, it will resonate with people how disaster can come quickly.
