Its the current favourite to take home the Best Picture statue later this month, but as the buzz surrounding The Departed's predicted success at the Oscars continues to, erm, buzz, one of Scorseses ruthless detectives has revealed to Empire that The Departed, just like its Internal Affairs counterpart, could spawn not one, but two sequels. Heres the freshly Oscar-nominated Mark Wahlberg:

They told me they wanted to try to do it and I said, Well, I enjoyed playing the character. I mean, this guy [Dignam] doesnt give a shit about anything. He doesnt care what anyone thinks. He just does what he does, he does it the way he wants to do it. And I love that. I dont think that people who are borderline sane have to be bad. It was just the way I was acting throughout the movie, and then you realise that hes one of the only stand-up guys. He avenges the death of someone he doesnt even like just because its the right thing to do. Theres a dignity to him.
