June 1, 2004 — Scottish actor Gerard Butler (Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, Timeline) has signed to play the lead in the Canada/U.K./Iceland co-production "Beowulf & Grendel", according to Variety. The film will be directed by Sturla Gunnarsson, and will shoot in Iceland for 10 weeks beginning in August.
