Well I didn't really like it. It felt like Zemekis was just like "Hey look what I can do with a camera since none of it's in a real place!" I mean, if they look THAT real, why not USE real? The mo-cap stuff was... impressive but kinda creapy in a way. The horse riding looked AWFUL though. And the animation was HORRID in a VERY important scene [SPOILER] When he was fighting Grendel in the mead hall. [/SPOILER] They KINDA butchered the story [SPOILER] I mean, he became king of the land he was in, not of his own. Grendel was the old king's son. Grendel's mom doesn't die and instead sleeps with Beowulf and has a kid with him. Who inevitably becomes the dragon that kills him. And Grendel's mom STILL doesn't die, but instead lives on to lure the future kings into her bed. [/SPOILER], but for the most part remained pretty true. Grendel was a bit of a bitch in my opinion too. OH! [SPOILER] And the penis covering gags went on FAR to long. You'll understand if you've seen it. [/SPOILER] So there, it's worth waiting for DVD.

This movie was pretty good it was just a little weird at some points and there had to of been a couple of times the writers thought that the lines really didn't sound that good, everyone cracked up in the theater at a line that was obviously meant to be seriously but the queen says all the men come from around the world to have a taste of my husbands meat....it was something along the lines of that but other than all that it had great fight sequences and i felt was worthing going to see

Actually it was "all the men come from around the world to have a taste of my husbands mead" with a d, as in the drink they were drinking to get drunk.

I thought it was an alright movie, the CG was amazing though. I do agree that the horse riding looked off though, at least when they were trotting. Facial expressions were well done and managed to do some acting with the eyes, very impressive.

The story was alright, not the best written story though. Should have kept things more loyal to the original story.

I still recommend it though. The story is alright and the CG is a major breakthrough.
