Ogre the Edge! Meet the New and Old Characters Of "Shrek the Third"

SUBMITTED BY pimpjoe_esb

May 14, 2007

If you want to find out who's who in the cast of "Shrek the Third," DreamWorks' Tim Cheung, head of character animation, knows them all inside and out. There are new characters and old favorites. Here's what he told the NY Post about them:

SHREK: "We've added a nose wrinkle. If you look at the past two 'Shreks,' you'll notice that his nose area doesn't move too much. But on 'Shrek the Third,' almost all of our characters got a makeover, and we added these subtle details like wrinkles and stuff, so when they do a wince, you can see the wrinkles in the nose. These are things that help because there's a lot of strong facial acting in the movie. It makes the character believable."

FIONA: "In 'Shrek 1,' we had it easy because she was a human princess, so to make her look pretty was easy because she was already pretty. Now, she's an ogre, but the way we make her move can't be too manly. She still has to move like a princess. When she fights is when her ogreness comes out."
