OK - file this under mega-rumour for the time being, but at a press event today for the upcoming launch of "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots" for the Playstation 3, Kotaku reporter Brian Ashcraft got a few minutes with Konami's Aki Saito (the man negotiating the film deal with studios) who had this to say about potential Director's:

"Paul Thomas Anderson is interested."

Yes, the "There Will Be Blood" helmer is the latest name to throw into the ring - as a fan of the franchise & the Director, can I just say that this makes me just a touch happier than the long rumoured Uwe Boll?

Brian also gets some info on creator Hideo Kojima's involvement with any future movie plans that fans should also be pretty happy about, so check it out.
