All your ideas are great, especially those of the rock playing the Soiux indian warrior Vulcan Raven, ideally portrayed as menacing character decorated with Souix indian tatoos yet displaying a code of warrior honour of some sort- but only appearing in later films. Also Donnie Yen woud make a great Gray Fox but he would have to look battle weary in the character path that I'm considering, Mr Yen would have to handle the fight cheoreography along with the military advisor Motosada Mori delving into the close-quarters combat. Kurt Russell-in order to be recognised as Big Boss would have to be scarred by battle; physically and psychologically, in so creating a character who sees his actions as virtuous-in so justifying them to an understandable point- the Metal Gear theme of what/who do we fight for-are we just pawns for the government. Now the direction I would like to see the Metal Gear movie being taken is a recreation of the first two Metal Gear games-Preferabbly a two contract movie deal with possibilities of more. My reasons are as follows: the Metal Gear Solid Series has been delivered to us as beautifully cinematic as it could have been by Mr. Hideo Kojima, a story that could only be told through the medium of Video Entertainment-so in the translation of the these games into motion pictures would simply mean a potentially bad rehash of dialogue and scenes taken from these already cinematic games. The ideal script using the first metal gear games as a framework would have to be written by hideo Kojima along with David Hayter who have both worked together and understand the universe and the characters involved. The Direction being overseen by Mr. Kojima with Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium) helming as the director.
So my cast outline is as follows:
Big boss: Kurt Russell- Needs to bulk up.Grow a Grey Beard. Brown Hair with a hint of grey.
Another excellent potential candidate for the role of Big boss is Viggo Mortensen, sporting Dark Brown and grey hair and beard.
Grey fox: Donnie Yen- Gray Fox-buzz haircut-riddled with slight facial scars.
Solid Snake: Josh Holloway ('Lost')-Sporting Brown Hair-Solid snake hairdo and Physique.
Revolver Ocelot:Peter Stormare-Vocal lessons to sound like Ocelot but still retain slight russian twang. Black hair and moustache-hints of grey. (Not a major character as of yet- apears in scenes dialogue with Big Boss, almosts always hidden by shadow, only parts of his face and gleaming revolvers apparent in the shadow-his dialogue develops his character. Returns in the following movies centering on the Solid snake trilogy.
Liquid Snake must also kept in the shadow, seen from afar by Solid snake observing Big Boss with his Scope. ( if a competent actor that looks like Josh holloway is found please let me know)
Master Miller: Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa
the VISUAL EFFECTS Supervisor should be John Gaeta and his team ('The Matrix" trilogy)
And definitely Harry Gregson-Williams who did an excellent composition for the video games.
The rest of the cast I leave to you.
Thank you for the inpiration, and lets get this reverred Video game to movie adaption done right- proper time should be dedicated to training of actors and development of story and visual style to insure a pleasant viewing experience. which is wht the Games intended for us, the pleasing of all our senses, our psyche and emotions
The movie should also carry a age restriction of 16 y.r.o-justified violence and language and some sexual references as seen in the Games.
Remember Metal Gear is all about the undlying themes and philosophies, its driven by the characters and not just the action or special effects which are mere tools of storytelliing.
I urge you to read the stroyline of the first Metal Gear Games at these links:
