Actually... Yes, some cars are used more in the drifting competitions than others. Muscle cars have a history of yankin' the wheels and getting to 140mph in 9 seconds. Japanes PEOPLE are into drifting more, so they build cars like 240's to work the corners and toss the weight. Remember, Jap cars are built with less hp and smaller motors due to emissions restrictions. Heck the 300ZX is literally crippled on purpose through the computer and it's running 4 frickin' catalytic converters to make the thing emissions legal in the US. Take off the cats, spend $300 on an ECU Chip and you're poppin' another 50hp to the wheels. Japs drift cuz Japs can't build insanely torque hp cars to drag with.
... but you people that claim that muscle cars can only go straight? come on. Every car is a piece of metal, it all depends of the money you put into it. Suspension, sway bars, height, weight distribution, gearing - it can all be controlled, modified, and worked to drift or drag just as good as either genre of car, weather domestic or import.
For instance, Moores Motorsports is currently running a 4 door Caddilac in the drifting competions all over the us. http://www.drift-caddy.co m/ you can see the car there and I've watched it personally whip the living crap out of 240's and rx7's in tandem competitions.
You all need to grow up and stop saying crap like "Paul Walker rocks I want to be like Paul Walker he drives JAP JAP JAP JAP CAR OMG JAP CAR IS TE ROCK ING THE BEST AND TE DRIFTING IS TE OWN YOU ROCK THE JAP WORLD DOMESTICS SUCK!"
... ok.. then...
lol

Well, personally, I've only owned 4 Toyota's (all 1970's celica's to be exact), a Ford F150 Lariat 4x4, and a Chevy S10 but I've driven a lot of domestic V8's. I like cars from both sides of the pond, and grew up dreaming of a 69 Mustang fastback (which prolly explains my 77 Celica LB . It's true, a V8's response is excellent, and not much is cheaper to build then a chevy 350, but that doesnt mean that there arent comparable imports.
For instance, my 1977 celica. Now i know it's only a 4 banger, but half the car, half the cylinders, and it all balences out. In the end the celica handles better too cuz it's lighter. It also has the classic "American Muscle/ponycar" look too, which i love!
And there is nothing that can compare with the sound of a twin cam HEMI 2L, all naturally aspirated motor, that was built in the 1970's and still manages to make 300whp reliably!
C'mon guys! Your comparing the wrong things! Apples and oranges! Your comparing Old american muscle cars to new jap sports cars! These are not the same!
Just cuz most of you dont know about the old Pacific Muscle cars doesnt mean they dont exist! I have a feeling this movie will educate you tho, I've heard rumours that a MONSTER of a 1971 Nissan Skyline GTR will make an american screen debut on this show! (actually I heard this from a good freind of the owner of the car
And, for the domestic lovers out there, I believe there will also be a late 60's mustang, alltho i'm sure you wont apreciate the fact that it's powered by a Nissan Skyline 6cyl twin turbo (even i thot that was a little out of place*shrugs*)
I just hope they include my good old favourite, a 1971 Toyota Celica TA22! Drifting in Japan would never have happened with out the classic skylines and celicas (ok, Z's too...)! So show a little respect and check out the oldschool Jap cars! |

General_Lee-01 said: pothempcrack said: This movie is about drifting or hab u 4gotten this??? A muscle car is only good in a straight line where it will whip the **** out of a jap car but when it comes to drifting they r hopeless. Watch any drifitng competition n the 800hp get their ass whipped by 200hp Corolla ae86!!
Use u're heads man. He will b using a jap car mayb his rx-7 which magically vanished in the movie.
I am a fan of both muscle and jap. They both have their upsides and down but common sense says that a drifitng movie will come with drifting cars which are Jap
Hey I'm new nice to meet you. First thing I would like that you are wrong and completly stupid. Ok my personal motto when i'm driving is "It's not the car, ITS THE DRIVER!" Do you know that muscle cars are my favorite type of cars. I hate import cars with an exception of Dodge Neons and Ford Focuses. When you buy a japanese car how do you know the money that the Japs get, they aren't using it for building for atomic bombs to bomb our country. Ok give muscle cars a lot more respect and that goes for all of you. I'm fifteen years old and im not those kids who drive around in those aluminum pieces of crap. I drive purely american! Oh by the way, before you insult muscle cars on drifting, look at the Dukes of Hazzard movie and see the almighty General Lee drifting for almost 2 minutes straight! So get your facts straight before you insult muscle cars on drifting or for any american car for that matter. Lets see those japanese crappy cars can beat the new super american cars now built. The Ford gt, the Dodge viper srt10, and the Chevy Corvette z06. I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but remember my motto " It's not the car, ITS THE DRIVER!" See ya
hmmm.. yes i agree with "It's not the car, ITS THE DRIVER!" but still it's limited to the cars capability to drift gracefully. " I'm fifteen years old and im not those kids who drive around in those aluminum pieces of crap." hey kid your more STUPID than I thought , you better wake up and smell the coffee or should I say smell your hot milk that your mom made for you all the new american cars body are made from aluminum or carbon fiber. Not that I have anything against american cars Love them but when it comes to drifting it's a whole different ball game. I'm 33 and i own a Dodge Viper and a Nissan Sylvia import, sure I did do drifts on my viper the drift is quite ok but not as smooth as the other one, when I drift using the nissan sylvia.. man! it's like your floating in air with much controll and precision not to mention quite gracefully like a ballet dancer. Leave the drifting to the big boys go back and play slot cars kid. |
