December 9, 2003 — Ang Lee is reportedly in Calgary scouting locations for his upcoming gay-themed Western "Brokeback Mountain".
Sun sources say Lee, whose credits include The Hulk and Sense and Sensibility, would shoot the period drama sometime next year.
No actors have been cast in the project.
Set in Texas and Wyoming, Brokeback Mountain is described as a western set in the '60s that tells the love story between two cowboys -- one a ranch hand, the other a rodeo performer.
The screenplay is based on the book by E. Annie Proulx, who also wrote The Shipping News, and written by Proulx and famed Lonesome Dove novelist Larry McMurtry.
