November 21, 2003 — Ang Lee, fresh off of the blockbuster "The Hulk" is now making another characteristically daring change and opting to film a gay Western.
Lee, 49, is eyeing a big-screen adaptation of the epic love story "Brokeback Mountain" for Focus Features, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on a short story by E. Annie Proulx, the project centers on a ranch hand and rodeo cowboy who meet 1961 and forge a lifelong connection against the backdrop of Wyoming and Texas.
Proulx and "Lonesome Dove" author Larry Mc Murtry will adapt the story for the screen.
