I 1st was aware of this film when I kept on seeing it advertised but I ignored it as Cowboy films are not my scene. Tho one day i clicked on one of the ads on my computer & looked at the several trailers being shown & realised that I was gettin besotted by the trailers & had to see the film which is what i eventually did. Never has a film affected me so much that even a week later & several showings later I still am crying & also am learning a lot more as Im seeing bits I missed in previous showings. Its now No1 in my all time top 10 films ( Somewhre In Time & The Karen Carpenter Story being the best for years.) It has it all this film & deals with all topics 100% correctly from the "Shame" of being gay to the Marraige sham & the homophobics & the way of dealing with it all, right down to the "wife script reading about the way a partner died to hide the real truth". I know Ive Been there apart from the "marraige" bit. Each time you see the film you see/hear more details missed. The backdrop scenary the acting the music score the mood...all other films eat your heart out. Try to tell yourself that its a film & nowt else does no good because your emotion takes you over...I DO hope that there will be a sequeal to this film so as to at least maybe have a happier ending as im running outta tissues here & I feel as tho Im grieving with Ennis. I hope this film gets the oscars its nominated for as it deserves them. I hope its the all time best selling/grossing film of all time ever as it deserves to be. Took me years to get over the Karen Carpenter Story & Somewhere In Time, dont think im ever gonna get over this one..Its a film..Ennis is an actor so is Jack...Its a film Ennis is an actor so is Jack......nope its no good...pass the tissues please, here I go again!!!!! and me a 45 yr old bloke. Ken,I really agree with you. This is the first gay movie I've seen and I didn't think I would like it as much as I do. I have seen it 4 times now, and I really want to see it again. I haven't seen the other movies you mentioned, are they gay films too? Well, I really think that the whole story of Jack and Ennis I will never be able to forget. I really wish Jack hadn't died. If you did write a sequel, what would it be about? Because if Ennis ended up with someone else, well, it wouldn't be as cool as him with Jack. So would you have him be with some other guy? Or get back with Alma, or what? I'm just curious...
Hope you see this reply so late in getting back. Somewhere In Time & K C Story are not Gay films they are just tear jerkers & make you wonder like B. M what if???? I am trying to do a further story carrying on the B M theme but am having to do a few enquiries 1st so I dont tread on any toes..copyright etc. No Im afraid cannot tell you the out come but inmy head the ending will be a corker & thought provoking too. It will also hope fully put closure on this film for a lot of people inc myself once & for all...I hope. Just hope I get the go ahead from all concerned..I will admit its not gonna be easy for me doin this as I have already had a lot of Negative comments from some people on here when I 1st approached the subject & as Im from the UK I will need to contact various people so as to get me facts right concerning issues in that part of the USA & area.
