I wonder if the morning that they met in front of Joe's work trailer, did Jack and Ennis "check each other out" or were they totally not aware yet of the possibility of a future attraction???
Oh they knew ok. Tho Ennis was a little more nervous/shy about Jack catching him looking at him if you see the way he looks away quickly & Jack is certainly more "bold". Ken Carps1000
I'm sure that they "checked each other out" and felt an attraction because lets face it, it doesn't matter who it is or when it is you'll feel that attraction but i don't think they knew that they would end up in a, what was it, 30 year love affair but for sure that they checked each other out.

Yes, I've wtched it a gazillion times and if you see in the beginning, when Jack shaves, he checks Ennis out. Then when they were in the trailer, when Joe Aguirre answers the phone, look at the interaction between them real quickly. You notice Ennis checked out Jack quickly and Jack checked out Ennis a little longer than Ennis before Joe Aguirre slams the phone. But you can tell obviously who the bolder one is b/c as soon as Jack drove up and kicked the side of the truck, he checks out Ennis big time first! **** I'd be checking both of them out! WooooWee!
