Odessa became a movie set location as the producers wanted to film at Ratliff Stadium the home of the Permian Panthers which the book "Friday Night Lights" was written about. The book chronicals the 1988 season of Odessa Permian High School football team. Preliminary shooting was done in Austin, and the championship was filmed in Houston's Astrodome. Pictures are of my time on the set as an extra.
