December 22, 2003 — Lucas Black, who stars in Cold Mountain, will now find himself as a quarterback for director Peter Berg's football drama Friday Night Lights. The film, which also stars Billy Bob Thornton, is based on the book "Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team and a Dream," by H.G. Bissinger. The story, which takes place in 1988, revolves around Odessa, a small town in Texas that pins all of its dreams on the town's high school team, The Permian High Panthers.
