I am from Ell Paso now living in San Diego an have been a Permian fan since 1965
Permians band and Pep Squad have always been great and I think the producers of the movie really screwed up when someone that follows the school like I did notices mistakes like I did in the movie First the band march's close to 300 and I noticed that didnt happen in the movie when the band spelled MOJO not enough people and why use the Sugarland band instead of Permians? Permians band is terrific!
The movie should have portrayed te correct teams in the season Perman lost to Marshall 13-12 that year and only had one conference loss not two as in the movie They beat Abilene, they did not lose 49-6 like in the movie, they did toss a coin ,but not with Abilene Cooper and Midland Lee but with Midland High, Lee and Permian and they did not play in the State Championship game v Dallas Carter
they lost in the Semi Finals 14-9 not 34-28 in the championship game
If they wanted to make a movie on the book they should have been realistic
They also at the end of the movie should have mentioned that Odessa then did not take kindly to the book in fact the author recieved many death threats
