This movie will rock. Here's why:

If you read interviews w/ Uwe Boll, all he does is talk about how he changed it as much as he wanted to make a good movie (and we know how that turned out) and he then wines about it and spits out feeble defensive nonsense at people when they give him bad interviews. It's pathetic. They were horrible movies and they contained none of the elements that made the game good. He just makes a crappy movie and shows off the name so he can make money. (Which is why I am boycotting him.)

Paul W.S. Anderson... Well, he kept in parts of the game but really left out the atmosphere and real feeling of it being Resident Evil (same w/ Mortal Kombat). I don't think he realizes that he is screwing up these movies and turning them into cheesy action movies.

But Christophe Gans... He is so indulged in the gamers' oppinions and how he can capture the mood of the games. He realizes the mistakes of other directors of game movies (even realizing that Uwe Boll was just exploiting his movies' names). He really wants it to feel like the games and has managed to make it at a good length. He has looked deep inside the game to find what it really is to use that concept in the movie.

The movie is going to be great. Just search for his interviews on google.

I am doing restless work to stop Uwe Boll. Please help me by joining my Uwe Boll boycott. Even if you are a fan you must be mad that he is butchering your favorite games. Do not spend a single penny on his movies, whether seeing them in the theater, purchasing DVD's, or renting. Hopefully by doing this we can stop him once and for all!

I hope so, the trailer looks good.

But I have heard the "We're keeping the atmosphere from the original, we're doing it for the fans" Lines before. From the other two directors infact.

Silent Hill please break the Game to Film curse.

Ok, i agree with everything on Uwe Boll, cuz i hate his work too, and Christophe Gans is a director i know nothing about so i can't comment, but he sounds great. However, i disagree on Paul Anderson and Resident Evil.

I think The first Resident Evil was the closest to capturing the essence of the games, which is a difficult task apparently, and i think that with the eerie, deserted, sterile labs, and wide, elegant mansion settings, he did a great job with a low budget. I think that RE 2 was too aimed at action, but Paul did not direct that one, he just wrote it, so the primary action came from the director. So, that's just my personal opinion, but i too hope that Silent Hill breaks the games to film curse because there are many great games out there and if this movie sucks than people may lose intrest in adaptions.

woot.

Well as far as Paul Anderson goes, while he didn't the best, his movies were far from bad, or even mediocre. Mortal Kombat for me was the breakthrough video game movie, showing that they can be done good, unlike, say, Mario Bros or Double Dragon. And Resident Evil....considering how self-contained the plots of the games are, I don't see how he could have gotten those made without changing stuff. Even with that, I'd say he still did a PDG job. Now as far as Gans goes, I haven't read any interviews, but this movie seems like it could play as a sequel to Silent Hill (assuming Cybill survived the first one) or, more realistically (heh) an alternate first in the series. The only possible complaint I have after having watched all the clips and commercials and trailers is that Dahlia is a little less regal than she should be -- in the games she's like an ugly old high-priestess shaman, but here she looks like a homeless person. Now before you go getting all up about that, I will say that I realize this is both more realistic and that she is perfectly capable of looking like crap and being that shaman. Really, when one thinks about it logically, it makes more sense for her to look like that. Bottom line, I have absolutely no worries about this flick, and I cannot wait to see it Saturday (gotta work tomorrow).
