This afternoon I got some official news from a source inside at New Line Cinema as to what exactly is going on with our favorite horror icons, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees. Our anonymous source tells us that as of right now, today, this very moment there are NO immediate plans for Freddy vs Jason 2. Bummer. But there is some good news! We've been informed that New Line is actively developing another Nightmare on Elm Street movie. Everything you've heard before has been scrapped (prequel) and they're back at square one. Ideas are being thrown around without anything solid locked down. Expect some news on this later this year and until then we'll focus our attention on their remake of Friday the 13th. What do you guys want to see in the next Nightmare? Comment below and tell us, maybe you'll give New Line some ideas!

We need a darker more evil Freddy in this round. I'm thinking something in the realm of Dream Warriors at the very least.

I think redoing the earlier treatment Craven wrote for Dream Warriors would be a great starting point since some of the deaths in that script were grisly and Freddy himself had retained all of his original evil tendancies. I appreciate his humor but starting with Part 4 he lost something.

I agree. We need Freddy to be more of a dark icon, a little bit of funny but not "clown" funny kind of serial killer.

For the story, it would be good to have the original fear of the parents of Springwood, telling the kids Freddy is just a legend, but someone is living in his house, like a normal family. Like Nightmare 1 and 2. Perhaps giving Nancy Thompson a part in the story, but as a spirit that protects the kids of Springwood, and Freddy being afraid of her.

Well, you know, this is really really good to hear. But not great. I'd never get over them not having a "Freddy vs. Jason 2".

Uh, yeah it's possible to reintroduce the very sensible original format of the Nightmare series, FEAR!

And thanks to Jason, Freddy has that advantage again. At the end of "Fvs.J" everyone back in Springwood were running around like headless chickens "Freddy this!" and "Freddy that!", ya know. And Freddy has the power to make his way to EVERY kid in Springwood mixed with his ressurection, so the story may take place on a wider scale than the originals (excluding that piece of sh** part 6)

As for Nancy returning, I'd like it if she did, but I wouldn't mind if she didn't.

I would prefer a prequel, but after that a remake I would be cool with. Freddy 1 is outdated and could be redone better with new special effects (not computer graphics). I would love to see him dark like he was in Freddy 1-4. Not a clown and have it explore more of his child-molesting tendencies because that is so creepy and not done anywhere else.

Hello Again.

Fot this subject, I would love to see Freddy as it was in Nightmare 1-4, dark and bad *** serial killer, a legend in Springwood, but not the kind of legend to be afraid off showed in FvsJ. It would be cool to see Nancy Thompson as a spirit, protecting a male hero or a female heroine. As for Freddy, It would be cool to see him in behind his story, like when he was working as the school janitor, or in the factory.

And it would be cool to see old characters in the nightmares, like Alice, Dan, Kinkaid or Kristen. I watched Nightmare 6 the other day, and the kid that appears in the TV while one of the teens where in drugs, I4m not shure but I think its Johnny Deep, but in the credits it appears other name.

WHAT!!! how could you not do another freddy vs. jason 2 and put micheal in it that's B.S and you know it is,and what is it with all this remake stuff, didn't they do a remake to micheal myers, i don't think there is no reason to keep repeating the same stuff if you all don't know how to add another sequel to where you all left off then theres no reason to keep doing anything this sh*t pisses me the f*ck off...stupido!!!

How would they? She's been dead since the end of the third film.

It's a shame that they're not currently planning to make another Freddy vs. Jason movie. There's so much more that they could do with the concept.

I couldn't care less about Michael Meyers; not because he's a bad character, but because he doesn't really DO anything that Jason DOESN'T do (except drive a car).

I still want to see Pinhead brought into the mix.

I wouldn't MIND seeing Ash involved, but I'm really not all that sure how he'd fight Freddy.
