I agree that they are remaking a lot of japanese horror movies. But from what I saw in the trailer, it looks good. At first my brother, who went with me to see Blade:Trinity, thought that it was the Silent Hill movie, until the title showed that it was called DARK WATER. Can't wait to see this movie!
The real question here is, "Is Japanese Horror Influencing American Horror!?"
Seems like alot of Japanese horror movies are being re-made here in the States. Are American horror writers/movie makers running out of ideas? Seems like we're producing alot of prequels and sequels these days and remaking horror from other countries, specially from Japan.
Taka Ichise is one of the most prolific producers in Japanese cinema, specially when it you look at the amount of horror the man has brought to the big screen. He's worked on all 4 of the Japanes Ju-On movies, as well as films like Dark Water, Crazy Lips, and all three Ringu films.
He's now producing some of the U.S. remakes of those very same films. Most recently The Grudge.
Looks like Japanese horror writers and movie makers are coming up with new ideas (not a fan of those ideas myself though) while we here in America make 10 Halloween movies and 10 Jason movies, then combine the 2 to make another horror movie, and then make a sequel to that.
So the question is, are Japanese horror movies influencing the genre here in America?
Thoughts?
