July 23, 2005 — Kate Beckinsale, who returns in the role of vampire warrior Selene in the upcoming sequel film Underworld: Evolution, told SCI FI Wire that it was much easier for her to prepare for the film, having done the role before. "That really helped," she said in an interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego. "I mean, I was so unviolent the first time around. I really had to change a lot. And I did Van Helsing, which was part of my training, actually, for this film. So we still had a training period, but everybody was much more aware of what our strengths and weaknesses were."
