Then to find out Matthew McConaughey was cast as Dirk Pitt? Wellllll...... I am not a M. McConaughey fan so I will just keep my mouth shut! Wonder how long it will take before there is any info posted?
MMcC couldent have been a better choice. Granted the only pop actor of today that fits Cusslers description of Dirk would be Ben Aflik???. Regardless, Cussler wouldent have signed off on anybody unless HE thought they were the right Dirk for the job...
Wow! I had no idea that this movie was in production. I absolutely LOVE Clive Cussler and his Dirk Pitt novels! I first read Sahara a few years ago when I was a freshman in high school. I'll have to read it again soon.
I'm not a fan of Matthew McConaughey, though. I always envisioned Lorenzo Lamas to be Dirk, but he's a little too old now, and he's not the greatest actor. I do like the idea of Hugh Jackman portraying the role.

I really want to see this movie, but I am going in with Very LOW expations. With the exception of Cruz the cast is not what I would have picked. For crying out loud the have William H. Macy playing Admiral Sandecker and Steve Zahn playing Al. Come on!!!! Sahara moive site

Hey, thanks for the link. I didn't know that they are already in post-production and that the release date is next spring! They're really not doing anything to promote this film, are they?
I think you are right about keeping expectations low. From what I've read, the director is a first timer, and I bet he probably didn't even read the novel. I really hope it doesn't turn out that bad though.
