| My thoughts on this movie... |
|
Words cannot express how this movie impacted me. I've been a Christian all my life and this movie has further cemented my beliefs and love for Jesus. Please, DO NOT listen to any negative reviews for this movie. They are totally out of line and should be ignored. Critics look at this movie as just another story, but when Mel Gibson created it, he meant for it to become a powerful witnessing tool for the callused public. And if you aren't moved by this movie, then you should check your pulse.
Some critics complain of its ultra-violent scenes. Yes, this movie is perhaps the most violent and gruesome movie ever made, but the violence is a punch to the head of people who don't understand how much Jesus went through for us and think "he just died". He went through insane pain and anguish, something the movie shows perfectly. While other violent movies used its content to merely entertain or get sick laughs from, The Passion uses its violence to touch a person's heart. Many people in the theater were crying, and so was I.
James Caviezel gives a flawless performance, one that should (and better!) get a Academy nomination. The anguish he shows is just gut-wrenching, one of the main things that made me cry. It's just so real, which makes the movie so moving. Another thing that stands out is the music. Few films have music so emotional that it sucks you into the film and serves as a double whammy with the blood-drenched visuals.
To tell the truth, I've never cried in any movie before. Ever. But The Passion is like no movie seen before. Not like the twisted Last Temptation of Christ, The Passion shows the love and passion Jesus had for everyone. Through its torturous sequences, the PASSION of JESUS CHRIST is obvious and real. If anyone has to ask the question, "What's the point?", they're already doomed. |
