Haha Glad to have you. That's how DBZ was for me. You just want to see more and more. Now you have to watch DB, all of DBZ and maybe DBGT.

I know most i've seen complain about DB have no good excuses. It's either I don't like it/anime, over exaggerations or pointing out simple facts that aren't even bad but in trekker's defense DBZ does tend to drag out some fights over episodes but when the action starts it's great. The comedic scenes are nice as well. A few times even the drawn out interactions can be a joy to watch.

I agree, like the whole frieza saga stretched one season or 30 something eps, but he did change 4 times. And the Goku came and changed super saiyan so that was cool.

Yea this show is pretty great, not gonna lie. I heard DBGT wasnt that good so im kinda hesitant there, but so far so good.

Fav character is for sure Vegeta. Goku a close second.

Yeah plus you have to get through the ginyu force and the whole wait for Goku to arrive stuff but when he finally does it just gets even better. Goku facing off with Captain Ginyu, the body switch and the vegeta versus Jeice fight, all just so good.

GT is a little disappointing but still worth a watch. Super Saiyan 4 and stuff but not as good as the previous shows.

Yeah everyone likes vegeta because he's sort of the bad boy but you understand and love when he becomes a good guy (sort of). He's a great fighter and tactician. Smart too. Mines has to be between Goku and Gohan and maybe Majin Uub. I love goku's purity and good heart and willingness to fight evil. Gohan is very powerful, and very smart but lacks determination to become an even more powerful fighter. I'm going on and on here. Enjoy the show psych. Though I don't like them you should check out the season box sets. The Cell saga is even better.

Have you watched any of the movies yet? That's what got me hooked several years back. The History of Trunks, The Cooler saga, and the Broly movies were pretty sweet. Also Super Android 13 just to name a few.

Oh man I'm just glad I'm not the only one lol I watched DBZ faithfully for years starting at ten years old (I'm twenty now), I loved the show then but I have to admit that when I got older I really got sick of watching the normal, cut up english dubs.

But recently I followed a friend's advice and started watching the new full season uncuts, starting with the very first episode, and I'm hooked all over again. It's amazing that the violence isn't even that HUGE of a difference, it's just the humor and some of the subject matter, but it really makes a difference.

I'm up to the Goku vs Frieza fight, I haven't reached the Super Saiyan bit yet, just watched the ordeal with Bulma and Ginyu. It's great though, I've really gotten into this show again, and it's really a great way to get the horrible taste of Evolution out of your mouth.

GT was OK, but I never really got into it. In my opinion there are only three forms of Super Saiyans. BUT, one that should be considered instead if I were you is Dragonball. It's not as action oriented, though the action is still good, it actually has great humor and gives you a great look into so many of the origins that's it's definately worth a look.

Glad you're enjoying it. Once you finish the series, go straight to the original DragonBall show. It's different in tone since it's more adventure than action, but if you like the characters you'll have a blast seeing them.

Agreed, I love Dragonball because it's different. I'm not trying to compare this to the films exactly but the idea, in how Dragonball to DBZ is sort of like Alien to Aliens. Same characters, same idea and same world, but very different in style and even in genre in ways.

Dragonball is great on lighthearted, sometimes playfully adult humor with good action on the side. I actually watched Dragonball after DBZ, and it's just as good in chronilogical order or as a 'prequel'.

Same here, given that DBZ was first aired in Cartoon Network way before they finally started airing DB. It may not be intended to be seen after DBZ, but it works well, even when you already know Goku's true origins when by that point it was supposed to be a total mystery.

No i didnt, but i think im going to pick those up too. This show seriously does rock, cant believe i held off watching this for years, jeezus. The history of Trunks looks/sounds cool, he's a pretty cool character. I got three more episodes left in season 4, and gotta pick up season 5 today. These Androids are tough, like damn!

I caught the first episode of GT when they started airing it on Cartoon Network. Didn't like it. From what I've heard, not many like it either. But if you wanna check it out later, go ahead.

To give a little history bit, DB ran from 1986-1989 and DBZ ran from 1989-1996, that's 10 straight years that the network had been airing. When the creator was just finishing off DBZ for good, the network didn't want it to end so they decided to make the third show, GT, without the creator's involvement. It only lasted for about a year.

I've been wanting to rewatch the original two shows for awhile, so if I do maybe I'll watch all of GT.

If your having trouble acquiring the uncut remasterings of DBZ, then I definately suggest this. A guy on Youtube has uploaded just about every episode in the series, apparently because he gives the proper credits Youtube actually leaves them alone and let's him upload as he pleases. He's uploaded the entire series up until near the end of the Kid Buu saga, but he should have the end of the series up soon.

I stand with Longshot and Bats on this one. I will never watch or never get hooked into that horrible Japanese animation. I have seen parts of it when I was a kid and hated it and I still do today period.

Oh Cartoon Network or other kid networks all suck nowadays anyways. They don't show the good stuff anymore. Now I have to buy all the great cartoon classics on DVD that I enjoyed and grown up with. I don't really watch cartoons anymore except just the ones I own on DVD.

You all can go ahead watch your precious DB and other anime that you enjoy so much and I will stick with my American animation that I enjoyed so much.

Dragonball was originally split into the following sagas:

Emperor Pilaf
World Martial Arts Tournament
Red Ribbon Army
General Blue
Commander Red
Fortune Teller Baba
Tenshinhan
King Piccolo
Piccolo Jr

The remastered seasons may combine a few of them.

As for GT, no I don't recommend it. The animation's bad, it's riddled with plot holes, and the story's crap. It really tells that Akira Toriyama didn't write it. But definately check out Dragonball. I prefer it over DBZ. It's not as over the top, you never hear the words "power level", the fights are more about skill and technique, the humans are actually significant, and it's damn hilarious a lot of the time.

thats true, it was funny as hell

but I liked DBZ over DB only becasue I love the fights, love alot more of the characters and better bad guys. Including the movies, like Broly, Janemba, Cooler, bardock, Gogeta, all that cool stuff.

and you know what, I only say stay away from GT when your done with everything else, cuz you will be interested. I know i saw DBZ first, then DB and after all that, I saw Gt and I was let down but now that I'v seen everything else, I just watch here and there to see something new. Doesn't mean I like it, but I can tolerate it.

Still thougt, watch DB, and DBZ and maybe other anime before you even go into the same room as a DBGT dvd

also, your in the Majin Buu saga? tell me when your done with the one after, I want to know what you think of Vegito hehehe

Some of the plotlines GT had were interesting. The dragon saga was a good idea, but it still didn't turn out too good.

The Wrath of the Dragon movie is good, Tapion is a cool character, you should check that one out. The whole movie was on youtube at one point. Fusion Reborn is pretty good too, it's the one with Janemba.

I love everything about Dragonball, DBZ and GT, my nephews do too. They have most of the movies (many of which are sold at Wal-mart, which goes to show how popular the show is) I have read the manga a long time ago as well. As far as American cartoons go, most of them draw upon anime, so I don't understand Trekker's argument. Unless, he's talking about Disney and Looney Toons, which I'll pass.

If you ever get a chance to, definately read the manga of DBZ. It has none of the baggage the anime has. DBZ is one of the worst series for bad filler, and the manga, naturally has none of it. The Cell Games for example is MUCH more to the point. It has none of the Mr Satan crap getting in the way every other minute.

well i own all the movies soo...yeah

the ones you SHOULD SEE goes to Broly the Legendary Super Sayain, and Cooler's Revenge. I was going to say bardock, but you said you got that. Also i recomend them in both english and jap. I think The History of Trunks is better in Jap then english.

ya know what I'll just give you a list of the good movies and so so ones you can live without...for now

Good.
The Dead Zone
World Strongest (its the only DBZ that represents Dragonball and not Z)
Cooler's Revenge (Frieza's older and "cooler" brother)
The Return of Cooler
Super Android 13 (I liked it)
Broly the Legendary Super Sayain
Broly Second Coming (if you must)
Fusion Reborn (better in Jap.)
Wrath of the Dragon

now the bad
Tree of Might (just boring, but cool bad guy)
Lord Slug (again, boring)
Broly Second Coming (again...if you must ssee it)
Bio Broly
Bojack unbound

and thats it

still I have them all and I do enjoy them all, just some are better then few others

og yeah, stay away from the short DBGT movie
