The novel ending felt much to random, even for Alan Moore, and it went kind of unjustified as there was no real purpose for Dr. Manhattan following the events that took place. Personally i found the comic book ending more approppraite as it pulled in the references to script writers working on a island on an insane design - a design that cracks the comedian through its implications. It also allowed Dr Manhatten to maintain his godlike indifference even after revelation and unto the end. Ultimately i enjoyed both formats and have just brought dvd but i wonder if there is a copy somewhere with the alien ending?
