... is a name I won't soon forget. And his portrayal of Rorschack I will NEVER forget.
It was brilliant. It was moving. It was powerful.
Personally I thought his was the best acting by far.

Without a doubt! His interpretation of Rorschach was exactly how I envisioned him in my head while reading the graphic novel!

Yeah, he was awesome. I really couldn't picture Rorschach any other way. He is one character they really did nail perfectly.

I also can't imagine him having any other "real" face.

I'm sure you guys will give me hell for this, but did anybody else get a little choked up
when Rorschach dies?
I mean maybe choked up isn't the right word.... I made a hard fist.. like I was about to knock someone out. It was like I was bracing myself against feeling something. Something strong.
I heard some woman balling like a baby nearby and it just made it worse.

lol anybody?

He made the movie for me. I'm still tossed up on exactly how I felt about the movie overall but I don't think there was a single scene in which he wasn't damn near perfect.
As for his death... I had a different take on it. The first thing I did was look at the blood splatter in the snow and say "I see a snow angel!!!"
He was great. Although I imagined Rorshach a little bit taller (!) but his performance was brilliant. He got the voice just right I think and they got the look of him right as well. Brilliant film and brilliant performance from JEH.

Agreed. As a hard-core fan of the graphic novel, I was very disappointed with the movie for many different reasons, but I still left the theater saying "Wow, what great acting!" All the major players nailed their parts perfectly, making the character portrayals the greatest attribute of this film. Truly the silver lining to me...

Taller? In the book, they describe him as short and physically unimposing. it is just his psychotic determination that makes him a tough opponent.

Like what? Any true fan should have loved this movie. It was all best stuff without the crappy squit. The ending made more sense than the book and they cut out the unnerving murder of the original Night Owl. What is there not to love?

Well, actually... I would have liked to have seen Hollis Mason's murder left in, as well as Dreiberg's reaction to it. It was in one of the TV spots but never made the theatrical cut.

If I had the time to make a list, it would be a fairly long one. But since I 'm short on time at the moment, let me address your points more directly. Yes, the squid at the end of the book was kind of a... well, a comic book-y thing to do. But I still hated that they changed that, because to me, the brilliance of the book was that all the numerous little subplots (which were not present in the movie) were perfectly tied together at the end... with the squid. I understood the ending of the film, but it just bothers me when a film deviates too far from the source material. Honestly, I knew and accepted that they'd have to trim down a lot to fit so much story into a single film (which was still almost 3 hours), but in my opinion, they just changed way too much. And I wasn't feeling the constant tension of impending nuclear war like I did when reading the book. Personally, I liked the dark mood and the "unnerving" scenes from the book. Maybe I have too much in common with Rorshach? I also felt that they could've fit more elements from the book into the film if they had not added stuff that wasn't in the book, such as the extended fight scenes and the soft-core porn scene. In the book, there was very little depiction of the actual fighting and humping, and I thought it made room for better story telling. I wish the movie would've been more like that. But in the end, it's all a matter of opinion, and everybody's going to have a different one. If you liked it, that's cool, man. I respect your opinion; let me have mine. Fair enough?

I certainly don't recall suggesting you were not entitled to your opinion. I was just currious. I enjoyed the book but there were always certain elements to the book that I hated. All of those elements were cut from the movie, making the movie far more enjoyable to me than the book.

Sorry, I am not one of those people who thinks Alan Moore walks on water. it was an interresting story with interresting characters that was 90% awesome. The movie was closer to 100% for me.
Seriously, a giant squid? I think Al may want to lay off the shrooms for a while.

Sorry, but the more I watch TDK, the less I'm blown away by that version of the Joker. He did his/Nolan's version of the character, maybe it was just a version I wasn't all that impressed with, personally. Haley just WAS Rorschach, right from the page. I was just more impressed with his nailing the one and only take on the character as opposed to making a new interpretation of one with at least four or five versions, like the Joker. Also, I don't have to worry about the comics adopting something from the movie for the sake of a stupid tie-in or a desperate grab to attract new readers (cough, Spider-Man 3, X-men, stupid Morrison David-Bowie-Joker, cough)

With the comment "Any true fan should have loved this movie," you seemed to be questioning my status as a fan, and implying that your positive opinion of the movie is the only correct one. Whether someone likes or dislikes the film, it doesn't mean they aren't a true fan of the novel. If I misinterpreted your comment or simply read too much into it, I am truly very sorry. Don't want anything blown out of proportion. And just for the record, I don't recall suggesting that Alan Moore walks on water. But for me, the Watchmen novel was a solid 99%. Again, just my opinion.

No problem. But at the end of the day, the movie didn't have a giant quid.
