Fox drama 24 has signed Julian Sands, JoBeth Williams and Peter Weller for season five storylines, says Variety.
Producers are being vague about character descriptions, but Sands will play [SPOILER] billionaire baddie Vladamir Bierko. Weller is set to appear as Christopher Henderson, a federal agent who first hired Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) for CTU a decade ago, while Williams will play Henderson's wife, Miriam. [/SPOILER]
The plot for the fifth season picks up 18 months after the end of season four, with [SPOILER] Sutherland -- presumed dead by most of the world -- living a new life with Diane (Connie Britton) and her son Derek (Brady Corbet). Sean Astin is also joining the cast as a new CTU agent, along with Jean Smart. [/SPOILER]
Returning cast members include Carlos Bernard, Kim Raver, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Gregory Itzin, Roger Cross and James Morrison. The series will have a two-night premiere on Sunday, Jan. 15, and Monday, Jan. 16.
