I just read the whole 1 hour to read interview with Ron Howard and I realy like it .

To be in film school and to get to hangout and interview Ron Howard and his editors at a studio is a dream for any film student.

I had the opotunity but i stuffed it up..i got into the studio where they where filming peter pan(thats why i like it so much) and i went there a couple of times and i let it slip once about it on some message board and i was in for.
So i stuffed it up..but the peter pan crew have movied out so i guess i could get back(i was hidden basactly in a room with a friend that go me in..but when i was there i was basactly hanging with the cast and high crew(director, editors and producers).

Typhon24 if you just read..reply and tell us what you are studing to become

Hey guys!

Yea, I've been real lucky - and a lot of it is cause of CountingDown! Hopefully the fun I get to have is expressed in the interviews and the like; glad you liked the Howard article...without any comic book connections, I was a little out of my element! But Ron and Dan and Mike were awesome guys, and made it real easy. I'm actually at USC (Southern California), hopefully on my way to being a director someday! Lofty goal, and if I end up somewhere else in the film industry, that's definitely groovy...but directing is my goal. Meanwhile, I've only got one year down, and getting ready to gear up for year two! But, y'know...one day at a time, right? Anyone else out here on CD a current, former, or future film student? If there's anyone at SC, we should catch up sometime! Would love to meet a friendly CD face

well know you have some realy good oscar winning contacts.. (Ronny )
i whould love to hang out..i live on the other side of the world...

i have interests in the "industry"...
i have 2 family friends who are in the industry and are great to me as in letting me go with them to work and that was great...

i live on suburb over from a film studio so i whould have to be stupid to let it slip when the industry is so close to me and has so much petantial...im 15 but i have every plane to do somthing about it and try to get into it

i have one friend who is the projector that projects the dailies and a set builder....im more interested in the set stuff..the projector dude..well his job is boring...the set guy has the best job..he is high up in what he does..that high that he builds most of it at his home

you said your a comic book fan
well the studio im talking about is where superman is going on soon...
i have seen tones of the sets(in his garage).
so when it comes time to put them up ill get to go down ther again and check out filming

Heh, cool...maybe they'll actually shoot for a while before they close down the movie again...

But that's groovy that you're into film, here's hoping you eventually end up doing whatever it is you want to do

Yeah, y'know, when you're young (which we both are, but you way moreso) it;s kinda nice cause you have a lot of time to figure out what you want to do...seems to be that if you can get a sense by the time you get to college, it helps. Specially for something like film.

Well, I'm going into Comp Engineering, may specialize in robotics or something, who knows lol...I would like to eventually work in the movie business though. There's a lot of computing involved in them these days and it's very intriguing. I'm even considering minoring in graphics. *shrugs* Too many options to choose from, lol.

Anyways, Robbie Fowler (the member of this site not the football/soccer player ) just graduated from film school. He has a site up with a few short films...If I could just remember the site's name...agh...but he's also writing a script right now. Hmmm...I knew Cosmo had a few connections...but I don't know anybody else in the film industry...or at least I can't remember anymore, lol. Good luck with your ventures, Typh! You too Cos!

Groovy...yeah, I had originally wanted to go into the effects side of things myself at one point, but then I realized that I had no skills with math or engineering, and that I'd rather just use my imagination and let people smarter than me tell me what I could and couldn't do! Good luck with your studies, Van, that's pretty sweet. I would be really interested to see how many people that use this site (as in, like, frequent message posters, not just frequent visitors or whatever) were either in or planning to go into the film industry.

That's cool about Robbie...wonder what school he went to. I have a few friends at NYU right now, and they're really enjoying it. None of my other friends are film folks. And I don't honestly know *that* many people from the MBs, cause I'm ussually so busy with the news! But it's gonna be weird in like 5 or 10 years when directors are like, "I used to spend all my time on 'randommoviewebsite.com'" - hopefully some of 'em will be saying CountingDown!!

i dont realy want to do like a 3 year course or anything...i whould like to start at the bottom and meet people and work my way up

but the realy hard thing is getting a foot in to start of with..because its realy hard to get a job with them...i mean well see the studio that i live near is Warner Brothers but alot of the movie that have been filmed there where like universal ect..so if you want a job in film..you doing to there and give them a resume...lol...you have got to find universal ect...but down here there are alot of tafes, collages and uni and they recuit....
but also ...universal ect bascatly rent people and there equiptment to come in to work on the films..

as in...
a place called
COASTAL FILM & LIGHTING do all of the Lighting and grip equipment rental and services

DIGITAL SOUND & VISION do Post production services, sound design, ADR, foley and mixing

FILM FX PTY LTD do Special effects and armoury consulting, equipment hire, personnel training and special effects production

PANAVISION AUSTRALIA do Camera Equipment Rental

PHOTON FX do Specialising in the supervision, design and creation of visual effects

STARWAGONS AUSTRALIA do Offering a range of single and double green rooms, camera, unit, make-up, wardrobe and cargo trucks and trailers

so basactly unless you do directing, makup, set, editing you are rented out...
so if i want to do lighting...
i go to COASTAL FILM & LIGHTING...

at the mement im interested in set...the person that i go to the studio with..well thats what he does..so i help and i have had alot of experiance in it and am enjoying it alot...

Hey Guys

It's Mike from TheMovieBox.Net ... first time writing in these boards but I was so compelled by the topic that I wanted to throw my two cents in - first: great interview by Typhon - most of the interviews out on the internet are mostly kiss-ass interviews and it's refreshing reading an interview about filmmaking rather than an interview with simplistic questions like 'How was it working with 'Cameron Diaz'? And would you work with 'Colin Farrell' again? That crap drives me batty. Anyway, I too am ... was an aspiring film maker and like most a-holes with websites, I'm bitter -- and assuming like you guys, I make fun of directors like McG and Michael Bay -- and I throw chucks of popcorn at their movies. Of course, I always have a comment on how a certain movie could be better and I always think to myself, if only they would use a dolly for that shot or swish-pan ... etc.

But anyways, a couple months ago I did a spotlight on these guys' website featuring a pretty cool short film called 'Hey!' What I like most about the movie was the fact that these guys, from film school, went out with little money and a small digital camera shot a cool little flick. I believe the internet is the best way to showcase your stuff and I suggest for anyone who wants to do a movie -- do it with bunch of your friends and post it up on the net. It's probably the best way to show your movie, especially if you have no inside connections with the industry.

Also here's a cool website showcases tricks and cheap ways to shoot a movie --it's got everything from ways to 'make fake blood' to 'build your own Bluescreen room.' Cool Stuff!

Hey Mike!

Great to see ya round these parts, dude - I love The Box, btw, you guys came outta nowhere and started kickin' arse and takin' names - hats off to ya Thanks for the compliments; I was glad people seemed to like the interview. Kinda not what I ussually do 'Was' an aspiring filmmaker? Not still? Never give up hope! Otherwise the little people like myself who haven't even gotten outta the gate and into the game yet aren't going to be properly inspired. Anyways, that's pretty sweet about the links, I'll defnitely check them out. It's always interesting to see how the internet is developing into its full potential when people start using it creatively. Hope to see you around the boards more often!

Thanks Typh! I hope to do good...I just got ALL the packing done today... it took about 8-9hrs! I'm ready to go though!

I did some digging and found RF's website again:
http://www.geocities.com/
maxredfield/index.html

He's a Brit and went to Wales-Newport. He has some pics of his stuff on that website.

Oh jeez, I would go nutters if someone famous (which to me, famous is even the camera guy lol) said they came here a lot. Especially if I had conversed with them...My mouth did kinda fall open and I said a couple "uh-buh"s when I read the back box cover for Time Machine.

Hiya Mike! Welcome to one of the best-est sites ever!lol Yesh, I go to moviebox a lot as well.

It's Bruce!
