Nooo!I don't know why but it's being reported that Universal has now cancelled the release of the unrated "Seed of Chucky" dvd. Orginally, there was going to be three versions of the film - theatrical cut (full screen only) and an unrated (wide and full screen) version on dvd. So now, all we will get when the dvd is released on April 12, 2005 is the "R" rated cut in both wide and full screen.

Maybe Universal has plans for the unrated version later on in the year.. I don't know, but I do know I was looking forward to seeing the uncut version. Now, I guess we'll have to wait and see what happends.

As soon as more info is made known, I will let you know.

Universal is having trouble making up its mind with their DVD release of Seed of Chucky. First it's one thing, then another. Well hopefully the new June 7th release date will stick and the unrated version of the disc better stick! Read on for the news.

DVD Answers reports:

Universal has announced the Seed of Chucky in which Jennifer Tilly and Brad Dourif return for the follow-up to Bride of Chucky. This time Billy Boyd also joins the cast, providing vocals for the homicidal dolls offspring, Glen, the seed of the title. The film will be available in rated and unrated form from the 7th June, with each setting you back around $29.98. Each disc will include English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround tracks along with English, French and Spanish subtitles. Extras on both will include an audio commentary with director Don Mancini and Jennifer Tilly, a Family Hell-iday Slide Show in which the Chucky family hosts the first viewing of their exploits through Paris, New York and Hollywood, a new Conceiving The Seed of Chucky feature that takes a look at two decades of Chucky films, Jennifer Tilly's video diary from The Tonight Show and FuZion Up Close with the Seed of Chucky stars which contains revealing interviews with Chucky and Tiffany.

the canceled seed of chucky dvd is either a lie,or a false rumor.

1. Rouge is the company that made Seed of Chucky.

2. Why would Universal be in charge of releasing the dvd. When it's been publicly known for the past 6 years.That they see the Child's Play series a an embarrassment.

A few weeks ago I made a reserve for the unrated Seed of Chucky dvd.At Suncoast Motion Picture Company which i've shopped at for past ten years. And their listings said April 12, 2005 and they have never been wrong with release dates.

And it's been weeks since I made the reserved for my copy.And Suncoast hasn't called me saying "sir i'm sorry but the release date has been changed."

Universal is claims to ba ashamed of the Chucky series.But they don't take shame in making a few bucks in dvd sales. I don't buy that story one bit,and will take it like a grain of salt..

All this ratings BS should stop. If a movie is filmed with an "R" rating, then it should be released with an R rating. this PG-13 crud is getting on my nerves. When I was younger, I couldn't get into movies because they were rated R. Now, Little tikes can get into a so-called scary movie like the grudge, and sit smugly.
There is some justice in this world, because the Amityville horror remake is sticking with the R rating, and I am going to proudly buy my ticket, knowing full and well that no kids are gonna get in. If i couldn't go in and see horror flicks when I was younger, why should the little kiddies now see them???
