August 20, 2003 — Jackie Chan's new film THE MEDALLION opened four days ago in Hong Kong and its box office has already reached HK$3.8 million. Its Mainland China box office is even stronger, reaping 12 million yuan in four days. Currently in Los Angeles, Jackie Chan is very happy upon learning the good news and is rather satisfied with the box office result. He honestly says that when he first made the film, he was afraid that because the film crew consisted of Hong Kong production personnel that the film would not meet foreign market demands, especially from American and Mainland China. However, the decent Mainland box office numbers have eased his mind. He really hopes that when the film is released later in America it can also rake in great success, which will prove that Hong Kong film production has been recognized around the world.
