I was wondering the same thing, the term gothic has been modernly used by comtemporary society as something dark, continuing the tradition of the gothic literature that came during the romanticsism with Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker. The term gothic comes from the gothic architecture which compared to the rest of the medevil architectue is pretty light and bright due to the rosetones and the vitrals. But anyways, having that said, I cant relate the movie's plot to any of the characteristics defined by the word "gothic" safe for the dark tone of the film...
In latin america they changed the name to "En Compania del Miedo" which means, in the company of fear, and if we asimilate that title with the content of the film, I find it quite apropirate.
