In short: Very scary & entertaining in the moment. Nothing deep or lasting here. Illogical plotline. Leaves critical questions unanswered.

I'll be the first to admit this was an entertaining film. That being said it in no way resembles a great film. This is not a thinking man's film. The film relies far too much on classic "boogedy boo" scary movie conventions and much of the fear created by the film has nothing to do with the plot, (i.e. things jumping out unexpectedly at the main character) for it to posses any real artisitic value that we would expect to see in a great film. However, this is one of the scariest movies I have seen in recent years and for that reason alone it is entertaining.

Here are a couple of the glaring logical problems with the film:

1.Conflict of interest-the doc would never be placed in the same facility in which she was formerly a doctor. Even if such an egregious error were made she would never have been treated by her former collegues.

2.The evil ghost-The ghost for some unexplained reason is malevolent, (at one point beating the doc silly in her cell). According the genre the ghost should seek to 'catch' the killer, but there is no reason for it to torture the doc. In addition it communicates poorly and leaves an overly vague "not alone" message as opposed to say "the sheriff"

3.The Doc's release-There is no real explanation of why the doc should be released. From all the evidence we have she still murdered her husband. The fact that she was 'possessed' (as she claims in a near hilarious phone conversation) would be irrelevant in a court of law. Are we just supposed to believe she is released because the ghost made her do it?

What saves this film is that it allows you to get so caught up in your emotions that you are temporarily able suspend your disbelief and focus on being scared....at least until you walk out of the theater. Once you leave you immediately realize this is a lightweight film that was surprisingly entertaining and you don't worry about what it didn't do...

1. I'm sure they explained that. but it was hard for me to understand.

2. the ghost wanted to scare her enough that she would want to find out the truth. notice the ghost made it look suicidal so the doctors would come running in and leave the door open for her to escape. and besides it wouldnt be a movie if the ghost just came up and said "hey you wont belive what happened!"

3. Its confusing but I'm sure they figured something out.
