Gala Presentation at 30th Annual TIFF

SUBMITTED BY Kit-Kat

August 17, 2005

Directed by Nick Park, original creator of the Academy Award-winning clayanimated shorts, and Steve Box, WALLACE & GROMIT - THE CURSE OF THE WERERABBIT, will receive its North American premiere as a Gala Presentation at the 30th Toronto International Film Festival. Starring the voices of Peter Sallis (who has voiced the role of Wallace in all of the shorts), Ralph Fiennes, and Helena Bonham Carter, this is the first fulllength feature film for the much-loved duo of the cheese-loving Wallace and his ever faithful dog Gromit.

As the annual Giant Vegetable Competition approaches, it's "veggie-mania" in Wallace and Gromit's neighbourhood. The two enterprising chums have been cashing in with their pestcontrol outfit, "Anti-Pesto," which humanely dispatches the rabbits that try to invade the sacred gardens. Everything was calm in the community until a huge, mysterious, veg-ravaging "beast" begins terrorizing the neighborhood, attacking the town's prized plots at night and destroying everything in its path. Desperate to protect the competition, its hostess, Lady Tottington (Helena Bonham Carter), commissions Anti-Pesto to catch the creature and save the day. Lying in wait, however, is Lady Tottington's snobby suitor, Victor Quartermaine (Ralph Fiennes), who'd rather shoot the beast and secure the position of local hero - not to mention Lady Tottington's hand in marriage.

With the fate of the competition in the balance, Lady Tottington is eventually forced to allow Victor to hunt down the vegetable chomping marauder. Little does she know that Victor's real intent could have direct consequences for her...and our two heroes.

Directed by Nick Park and Steve Box, WALLACE & GROMIT - THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT is produced by Peter Lord, David Sproxton, Nick Park, Claire Jennings, and Carla Shelley. An Aardman Features production, the film will be distributed worldwide by DreamWorks.

Gala Presentations at Roy Thomson Hall are made possible through the sponsorship of VIACOM, Paramount Pictures Canada Distribution Inc., and Showtime Networks Inc.
