September 24, 2003 — Even though she appears to be unflappable and solidly French -- hence, worldly -- in her attitudes and demeanor, Juliette Binoche had to work up a lot of courage to get naked in her latest film.

She told German Woman magazine: "Nakedness is not just about not having any clothes on. For my character Rose her make-up is like a mask.

"In the moment when she has no make-up on she shows her real self. I think you just have to have the courage to show yourself naked, and not just physically but also emotionally. It's about showing who and what we really are."
