Many fans have wondered why Paul Schrader's cut of Exorcist: The Beginning won't be on the upcoming DVD featuring Renny Harlin's version that was released in theaters. Moviehole and ComingSoon say its because you might actually get to see Schrader's film, which was scrapped by Warner Bros. because it apparently wasn't frightening enough, in theaters.
"Paul is currently in post-production on the movie, as we're anticipating a limited theatrical release here in the United States sometime in 2005," production company Morgan Creek told the site.
Originally it was believed that Warner Home Video may release both versions of "The Beginning" on the DVD simultaneously. It wasn't clear back then whether or not both films would be on one DVD or be made available individually.
