PErsonally I think Pitch Black is better, here's why...
It' san original story.
Good simple story, characters, antaginists, and plot.
Chronicles of Reddick, well the only way I can explain what i'm thinking is using a metaphor...
Let's say Pitch Black is a good ice cream sundae, with two toppings of your choice, well Chronicles of Reddick is like taking that sunday and adding a million toppings so it becomes a big uninjoyable mesh of random things.
In other words, even if Chronicles of Reddick is a good movie, they over did it.
I prefered Riddick over Pitch Black. I just thought it was a grander movie, and left me wanting to see more.
Theres so much that could be developed from it. Like the Furions and the Elementals, and seeing what Riddick will do with his new found status. After all, hes not exactly a good guy.

I saw both of 'em before and I loved both of 'em. Hmmm ... I think 'The Chronicles of Riddick' is better than 'Pitch Black'. I don't know why, but ... I liked it more than the original. Like Chou_Zu said ... it's full of twists, actions ... etc. It left me wantin' more and I can't wait to see the sequels.
