June 21, 2001 — "Duke Nukem" has bene announced by Dimension Films as they take on the Project from Threshold Entertainment, as TheThreshold.com Continues to Host Official Site and Announces New Content. The Official Press Release reads:
(Santa Monica, CA) -Threshold Entertainment, a multimedia and intellectual property management company, today announced that Dimension Films has acquired the project "Duke Nukem: The Movie" from its company. The film will be produced by Larry Kasanoff (True Lies, Mortal Kombat) and Threshold Entertainment. The film will be based on the number one action PC game of all time designed by 3-D Realms. Duke Nukem is the most popular video game franchise character with 100% name recognition to its target audience. Generating nearly $1 billion, Duke Nukem is among the most profitable video game properties.
In his feature film debut, Duke, the coolest, most outrageous, extra terrestrial assassin with an immeasurable amount of pride for his country, assumes the role of the Earth's best defense against all form of alien threat; he takes on the dangerous mission of traveling into deep space to intercept an alien ship on a collision course for Earth. Duke Nukem is an American version of James Bond, a very strong, confident, capable and politically incorrect action hero. This suspense filled, testosterone charged action adventure film with relentlessly developed action sequences will be rated PG-13.
