Moviefone revealed the nominees of the tenth annual Moviefone(R) Moviegoer Awards(TM) program at a Los Angeles press conference where Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney, stars of Universal Pictures' new film, The Wedding Date, read the nominees and cast the first votes.
Last year, moviegoers cast 20 million votes for their favorite films, performances and movie moments. In this year's contest, Shrek 2 and Spider-Man 2 tied for the lead with five nominations apiece, including Best Picture, Best Family Film and Greatest Moment. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban earned the second highest number of nominations with four, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress. Other films leading the list of nominees include Garden State and Ray.
Sponsored by Revlon, the Moviefone Moviegoer Awards program offers traditional categories such as Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Actress, as well as more unusual categories including Best Rising Star, Greatest Moment and Revlon's Sexiest Kiss.
Beginning today, moviegoers across the country can visit the Moviefone.com(R) web site or AOL(R) Keyword: Moviegoer Awards to view video footage of the nominee announcement with Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney and cast their votes. Voting ends on February 21 and the winners will be announced on February 22.
The following nominees were selected by moviegoers through a nationwide poll on the Moviefone(R) service.

"For a decade, the Moviefone Moviegoer Awards have given real movie fans a chance to speak up and make their opinion count," said Steven Yee, Vice President and General Manager, Moviefone. "This year, moviegoers took the opportunity to nominate a wide spectrum of films from big-budget crowd-pleasers like Spider-Man 2 and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to smaller independent films like Garden State and Finding Neverland. We invite movie fans everywhere to cast their vote and make their voices heard."
Last year, moviegoers cast nearly twenty million votes and selected The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King as the Best Picture of the year. Johnny Depp was voted Best Actor for his Pirates of the Caribbean performance and Charlize Theron was moviegoers' pick for Best Actress for her role in Monster. The year's sexiest kiss according to moviegoers was the passionate smooch between Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Universal Pictures' The Wedding Date, a romantic comedy starring Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney, opens nationwide on February 4.
Four nominations? Wow! That's kinda cool! I hope this movie will win somethin'.
