vintagelamp87 said: Wow.. I don't think I'd enjoy the idea of translating an 800+ page book that was written in English to Japanese - they aren't really related to each other language wise. English is a Romance language, so it would be much easier to translate it to other romance languages. How the heck would they translate all those spell names that she creates by using Latin roots? I've always wondered that.
And I guess with the Olympics happening in Greece, anyone who would have been working on subtitles or voice-overs for the movie would have been working on the Olympics instead. I mean, they had a crazy-huge number of volunteers. Something over 20,000 people, right?
I can see how those translations would take a while.
You know, these books are translated to every single language you can imagine. SS is now being translated to Irish Gaelic (the 200th language). And it's not a problem for them to translate the spells and names. They only need to find suitable translation. I read the first books in French first and it's really interesting how they translate the names so suitably.
But that was not my point. I meant that after the first 4 books were translated to Japanese, that attracted many fans, like in any other country. And so, they all await their next book, OOTP, but they have to wait one year more than we do. This is frustrating. They can speed up transtation, just like all the other languages the book has been translated into that came out after a few months.
So I think that fans of other countries have the right to read their favourite book not more than a few months after the original release. Same for POA (the movie), such an anticipated movie should be released everywhere in the world during the first 2 weeks after original release. Harry Potter Fan #5 |
