Hey all! This is about GoF not PoA but I'm sure you won't mind

All of a sudden all this info about what's been cut and what hasn't has popped up, all by fairly reliable sources. Of course, nothing is "official" yet. But in case you're interested..... Spoiler alert!

What's Been Cut:
- Most things S.P.E.W. related (they don't mention it much, but Hermione is shown making the S.P.E.W. badges and forcing Harry and Ron to buy them)
- The Dursleys
- The Hogwarts Express (there are shots of the train, but no footage from inside)
- The Weighing of the Wands

What's Been Drastically Cut:
- The Yule Ball
- The Quidditch World Cup
- Rita Skeeter (doesn't have as much film time as book time)
- Harry stressing over the egg clue
- Scenes with Snape
- Hagrid and Madame Maxime romance

What Hasn't Been Cut:
- Opening scene involving Voldemort, Wormtail, and Nagini
- The Dark Mark scene
- The "Potter Stinks" badges
- The 3 tasks (although the spider may be cut from the third)
- Dobby and Winky
- The Pensieve
- The ending with...the death

End spoilers!

I got this from www.Veritaserum.com although pretty much ANY HP fansite has the info.

So what do you think??

Nothing is confirmed, so it may be fake. Also, another report said that the SPEW is in, so you wouldn't know what to believe.

There's a discussion around those reports on the GOF board.

The quidditch world cup can't have been cut because they were just filiming them on the way to it.

They seem to be cutting alot

"I realised I can't shut myself away or crack up. It could be me next, couldn't it? But if it is, I'll make sure I take as many Death Eaters with me as I can and Voldemort too, if I can manage it."

"You said to us once before," said Hermione quietly, "that there was time to turn back if we wanted to. We've had time, haven't we?"
"We're with you whatever happens", said Ron.

I didn't actually think THAT much had been cut! I was actually kinda impressed they managed to keep so much in!

Yeah, none of this has been confirmed, but I believe it because the sources all say they are close to the production.

But I guess it's all up to you if you want to believe it or not

The Quidditch World Cup is listed under "drastically cut," which means it's still in the movie, but not much. Overall, it looks like they've kept all of the important stuff, I'm satisfied.

I just saw this, over at Mugglenet :

Newell: "We aren't cutting any corners."

Movie Magic Magazine features an article on Goblet of Fire filming in their latest issue and thanks to Veritaserum , we have a transcript .

Of course, with all the action, adventure, wizardry, and wonder of the Goblet tale - rumors have begun circulating that this film will run a whopping four hours long, with an intermission. This is great news for Harry fans, who naturally don't want the majestic story to be butchered to fit into a two hour time slot. "We're going to be true to the book," says Newell. "We want fans of the book to be thrilled with this movie. We aren't cutting any corners - this is a story that's going to be told ."

But, I say to them. I am not sure about this won't cut the corner. Because I am not sure if it is true or rumor. We have to check WB if it is a proof or not. That mean if WB had to check make sure it is true? We have to find out and see.

You do have to cut a corner or two but, I tink, he mean this one will be a little more linear, than the previous films (especially the first two).

Mike Newell said in the Movie Magic article "Harry Potter wouldn't be the same without a serious Quidditch tournament". That means that the QWC isn't drastically cut as the reports say.

Perhaps not. I could, though, just mean that it's a little more intense. Which would make sense, seeing as it's the Quiddich World Cup.

I'm pretty sure that it means that the scene in the movie will end up being quite shorter than the part in the book (which is a fairly long chapter).

I'm sure the scene will be milked as much as possible for character development (i.e Harry & Cho, Ron & Hermione) but I'm not sure how important it is, plot-wise. Things that are said and done there can be put into other scenes. And I mean this has been done in the 3 previous movies.

Hopefully though they'll keep the good bits in!

The cuts-that have been reported-they're making are fine, with me. Afterall, you've got to keep some things just for the book. It's just nice to have things left to our imaginations, instead of the possibility of having them ruined in the movie.

Yeah. I just hope they keep in "The Unexpected Task" (when Harry asks Cho), the row btw. Ron and Hermione, of course, and I really hope they do the opening dance! I Love dances in movies!

and I CAN'T wAIt to see how they do Hermione's (and Cho's and Ginny's and everyone's) gowns!

Do u think they'll keave in about Harry and Ron spying on Hagrid in the gardens? I don't really like that part as much as others, I have to admit.

When they say the Yule Ball *PLUS* Hagrid and Maxime will be drastically cut, I doubt they'll have R&H spying on them. The necessary info given in that scene will probably just be used somewhere else.
