November 15, 2002 — SFX company Rhythm & Hues has been tapped as the lead f/x facility for the adaptation of The Cat in the Hat.

The company will create an estimated 270 shots for the live action film, which stars Mike Myers as a mischievous feline visitor in a striped stove-pipe hat. The work includes set extensions and CG characters, such as Fish, the talking goldfish, voiced by "Will & Grace's" Sean Hayes.

Douglas Smith, who won an Oscar for best visual f/x in 1997 for Independence Day, will serve as the visual f/x supervisor on the picture.
