Before Shrek 2 opened he seemed a little reluctant to do anything more than just one the movie, but now, Antonio Banderas the voice of scene-stealing Puss in Boots - has signed on to do not only a Shrek 3 and Shrek 4 but a Puss in Boots movie.

Whilst its early days for the spin-off, early word on Shrek 3 suggests that Puss is going to get a girlfriend in the film.
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" scribes Peter Seman and Jeffrey Price are currently putting the finishing touches to the screenplay, with Jon Zak ["The Perfect Score"] on hand as script supervisor.

One idea for "Shrek 3" that's been discussed is to set it around the legend of King Arthur. Shrek and Fiona are trying to pass their crowns onto Fionas old friend Arty(King Arthur), who is actually attending uni with cheerleading Genevieve and jock Lancelot.

Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy will all be back for Shrek 3 and Shrek 4, providing the voices of Shrek, Fiona and Donkey, respectively, though its unlikely theyll join Banderas for the Puss stand-alone effort.

"Shrek 3" has been in production for nine months (it's scheduled for release in 2006) and "Shrek 4" has been in the works for three months (it's scheduled for 2009).

by the way, I'm retarded.

Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Don't get me wrong...I absolutely LOVED Puss n Boots. He's a great supporting character, Shrek is full of them, but I don't think he can carry a whole movie. I don't like the idea.

Then again, the writers can totally surprise us, but I am very skeptical about this news.

For one I can't wait for Shrek 3 and 4. And second Puss in Boots could have his own spin off. They could easily do it.

I can't wait for Shrek 3 and 4 either. I'm a huge fan of the franchise. I just don't know if they could make the Puss n Boots spin-off as good as Shrek.

He won best animated character of the year and he was only in one movie, so I think they could.
