"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" co-creator Kevin Eastman has confirmed the rumors that Imagi and Warner Bros. are in talks to develop a new live-action movie based on the characters. He posted the following at HeavyMetal.com:

Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better "re-invention" (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film--like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc...there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original "first" TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right--but no official word yet...will keep you posted. Best, Kevin

The CG-animated movie TMNT, which was released in March of 2007, earned $95 million worldwide compared to its $34 million budget.

Would be pretty cool to see a new live action movie. Todays technology would make the turtles believable. And im really liking the mention of a darker tone to the movie.

I hope this happens.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. So they released an animated movie, that was a sequal to the original live action movies, then when THAT does well, they want to start over? Even though they set up for a sequal? Go live action, that's fine, that's AWESOME! But come on, just make it a sequal to the last one!

They already had a live-action series which failed miserably exception of the crossover with the Power Rangers which I loved.

They're talking about a movie, not a show.

imo the TMNT CGI film didn't do nearly as well as it should have. They should do a sequel in CGI but ditch the incredibles art style and go for something more normal and detailed. Also make the action scenes in a way you can actually tell what's going on. Put in some familiar villains. I'll embrace the live action movie but of course with that comes an increased budget so it has a bigger chance to flop or not make a profit. Unlike their previous live action films the action sequences in this possible film may be heavy with the CG. Also they should provide at least one action sequence where we can see the turtles can take down an enemies with their weapons. Add some robots IDK just make it happen.

"Do it right"? What was wrong with the first ones? I loved the original live action movies. The first one was my favorite and I can pretty much say the lines word for word. (I practically watched it every day when I was little.)

I wasn't crazy about the CGI movie; the voice actors annoyed me for some reason. I guess I'm just so used to the voice actors from original films.
