August 23, 2001 — A story on E! Online talks about the next Blair Witch Film...

"Although it's still a couple of years away--patience is a virtue, movie fans--the Blair Witch Project's codirector Ed Sanchez tells me via email he's anxious to get started on the prequel's screenplay with partner Dan Myrick. "We plan to go up to my land in rural West Virginia and stay there until we have something that truly creeps us out and works as a film," Sanchez says. "We'll spend a lot of time in the woods at night and soak in the atmosphere and hopefully get some of that old Blair Witch juice flowing again. We hope to scare the shit out of each other like we did when we came up with the original."

But not until they finish work on Heart of Love, their dissection of a romantic comedy. Sanchez says they plan to begin shooting it in Canada by mid October. "We can get a lot more of our money on the screen up there, and that's the name of the game for us, you know?"
