Blair Witch Project 3 to happen?

SUBMITTED BY SpySoldier

August 23, 2001 — An article found on IGN Film Force about the next chapter...

The original's creators discuss returning to the franchise.

"It's hard to believe that it was just around a year ago everyone was anticipating Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, and Artisan seemed to be in possession of an unstoppable franchise. But the indifferent-verging-on-hostile critical and commerical reception to Book of Shadows (a movie I actually kind of liked) seemed to kill whatever momentum the franchise had going.

That's why a recent report on Cinescape comes as such a surprise. According to the story (which originated with E! Online), Ed Sanchez and Dan Myrick, the creators of the original Blair Witch Project (and were involved with the sequel in name only), are looking at returning to the woods for another installment... literally. Sanchez is quoted as saying: "We plan to go up to my land in rural West Virginia and stay there until we have something that truly creeps us out and works as a film. We'll spend a lot of time in the woods at night and soak in the atmosphere and hopefully get some of that old Blair Witch juice flowing again. We hope to scare the s*** out of each other like we did when we came up with the original."
