August 2, 2001 — Here is some "capsule" review from Newhouse News Service which was
released on July 30, 2001. There were many about movies to come and
some that have been out for awhile.
FILM CLIPS: Capsule reviews of current movies; stars range from
zero to four...
"AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS" Imagine the Bruce/Demi breakup. Now
imagine they had a joint movie to publicize right afterward. That's
the strong idea behind this Billy Crystal/Julia Roberts backstage
comedy. Too bad, though, that most of the male leads seem miscast and
only Catherine Zeta-Jones, as a pampered movie princess, gets the
wicked edge of the comedy absolutely right. The film contains vulgar
language and sexual innuendo. Rated PG-13. Running time: 100 minutes.
