October 12, 2002 — In it's second week of release, Red Dragon remained atop the box office pulling in an estimated $19 million, according to Box Office Mojo. This comes after a bittersweet opening gross of $36.5 million in which it broke the record for the highest October opening ever but fell $21.5 mill short of Hannibal's excellent $58 million opening back in February 2001. With this weekend's drop of nearly 48%, it's highly unlikely that 'Dragon' will come very close to 'Hannibal's strong final gross of $165 million.
