A Coming Attractions scooper recently saw Red Dragon at an early screening of the latest Hannibal film, and was happy with what he saw.

Great movie. Ratner delivers a movie that falls pretty squarely in between Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. The audience laughed at the funny-ha-ha references to the other movies and jumped in their seats whenever the sharp violins told them to. Not as stomach churning as Hannibal, but fairly disturbing at points. The only problem I had with it, ironically, was with Hannibal himself. The movie's flow was disrupted repeatedly because of some need to keep going back and hanging around with him. The only time he isn't playing, Silence of the Lambs greatest hits and staring menacingly at the camera, he does something that I felt was a complete betrayal of his character. 8.5/10
