It wasn't and shouldn't be hose - that's a completely different look. Seen the trailer plenty of times, only seen the movie once, so far, still cannot decide what that thing is. It looks like a burlap fiber net...which would cause you to pull a Mason Verger and scratch your face off before the first hour was over...
It may have been mentioned in the book, it's been
quite a few years since I read that one. Still a few years too, since I saw Manhunter, I kind of remember him wearing hose tho...no help here. If I come up with something, I'll let ya know . . . .
