I went to see Red Dragon yesterday, and I thought the movie was okay. I had read the book twice and the movie followed it very closely. It was a good adaptation but offered nothing new. I wasn't disappointed, just not overly happy. It was good, but not great.

I know what you mean. I think it's gonna take a couple of viewings to really begin to enjoy it. Mind you, the biggest disappointment for me was that they changed Dolarhyde's work place! It just doesn't work as well!
Plus, there's my criticisms about the Lecter capture scene, and also that lovely little scene that should be there between Will and Willy (or Josh- another annoyance). Anyway, I'm seeing it again tomorrow, so I guess I'll see...

The movie stuck close to the novel, but not close enough. I thought Anthony Hopkins would be playing an angrier Lecter, but he was a lot more comical then he was in Hannibal. I found him annoying in Red Dragon.
