| This is a feature length pain in the ass. Practically ignoring its source material, this indulges in a series of poorly constructed 'comic' set-pieces that are more hit than miss. Don't be fooled by the reviews, this film is terrible. There's a scene where Owen Wilson has SEX with the girl that Ben Stiller likes. Great, that means we've got some bad chemistry and confrontations coming up between the two leads eh? Nope, they don't ever mention it again...hmmm. Perhaps some character development is too difficult for a director who's only previous efforts have been the awful RoadTrip and the mundane Old School. To sum up the attitude of this movie, the personalities of Starsky and Hutch that were so perfect in the TV series have been swapped to keep up with the whole Owen=chilled/Ben=uptight bollocks we've seen a hundred times before. Could we have something different please? |
