[Spoiler Ahead]

For those who go to this movie just to see Donnie Yen VS Jackie fights and expect to see the "Drunken Master II" type of fights in Shanghai Knights, you will be dissapointed. However, this movie is more than fights alone, because it also about frindship, family value and some very funny lines. This movie comes in a package.

This movie do not drown audience with long fights but give audience time to chew on the figths scene with short to medium lenght fights (I guess it's a good thing because if all the fights were put in one big fights scene audience can only remember 1 or 2 sequence maximum.)

In Shaghai Knights there are so many variesties of fights it got market fights, revolving door fight,Wax Muzeum fight, Donnie Yen Fights and the final sword fight. For instance the revolving door fights is short but impressive, another very very short fights is between Choon Li and Jack the Riper, it's powerfull and quick, it make it funny (Sort of Jack-the-Ripper-who??-fig
ht) The market fights is the longest (a close call between the final fight) and the most impressive, when Jackie bounce on the roof to knock down the bad guys then immeditaly end up with "dancing in the rain" fights. It's very nicely done(Jackie has not lost his touch even he is already in his 40s) and it's like a dance sequence.

Other than fights, there are a lot of light to very funny moment as well. For instance the pillow fights, everybody bust out laughing when suddenly a fat guy appear in the pillow fights. Roy (Owen) is very funny in a scene when a lady came into his room and look for his service and offer him money. Roy immediately replied "This is the most romantic thing I've ever heard." This is pure Owen Wilson!!
Roy's crush on Choon Li (Fann Wong) add more madness into this movie. There's is a funny scene where Jackie try to subotage Roy so that his sister will not fall for Roy.
The main villian is not forgettable either because first he is good looking and 80% resemblance of Alec Baldwin only skinnier.
Choon Li look absolutely gorgeous in this movie. This movie is going to shoot her into stardome.

Another very very funny scene is when Roy hung upside down with his head just above the water and Jackie tries to save him while fighting the backguys, this cause Roy's head to repeatedly dips into the water. Until Roy cannot stand it anymore and shout "Oh just drawn me!!" (That is funny!)
At this moment the bad guy cut the rope and Roy went straight to the bottom and drawning. Jackie jump in while the bad guy firing the machine gun and when jackie reach Roy. The were talking in the water! with subtitles. Ther are some funny lines going on in the water!

Aaron Johnson's character as Charlie Chaplin need to be polished because for me his character is annoying. It would be good if he do some Charlie Chaplin stunts together with Jackie.

Now as I said earlier Donnie Yen and Jackie fights is not as impressive DMII but it's still a good fight, because there's one moment when both are fighting while the machine gun fires itself and spins around. Something new for all the fights i have seen so far.

The end scene where both Roy and jackie stuck at the big clock is very funny and the Bloppers at the end of the movie end this movie with a bang!

I give this movie 4 out of 5.
